Registration Guidelines

The Remodeling 550 is an annual ranking of remodeling firms by size and revenue. Remodelers, replacement contractors, franchises, and insurance restoration firms are eligible to apply. We will publish the results online in May 2020 and print selected results in that month's issue of REMODELING. (See last year's digital edition for an example.)


Important Dates

Numbers must be submitted by Friday, April 11, 2020 at 11:59PM EST.



To be considered for the 550, companies must fit into one of the following categories:

  • Full-service (i.e. general renovation) contractor
  • Exterior replacement or specialty contractor (windows, siding, roofing, gutters, doors, decks, bath liners, cabinet re-facing, etc.)
  • Insurance restoration contractor

Please note: Franchise and other multiple-location companies may apply as either full-service, replacement or insurance restoration firms. Applicants have the choice to report revenue as the entire company (franchisor + all franchisees) or as separate firms (each location reporting separate revenue), but not both.

How to Prepare Your Entry

Please use with Chrome or Firefox as your browser when registering and completing your 550 form.  

Please have your revenue, operations information, and 2020 forecasts ready before you begin. All numbers submitted for the 550 must be from the calendar year 2019. Do not submit numbers from fiscal years. Please have all financial and operational information with you when you complete these forms. You can input your information through this website through the three-step process:

STEP ONE: Create an account, if you do not already have one. If you applied for last year's 550, please use the same email and click FORGOT PASSWORD? if you do not remember your password. If your email does not pull up an account, it is likely not a mistake. Please create an account within our platform. Your account will also allow you to log in and view/print your 550 entry once you have completed it.

STEP TWO: Data Entry – Fill out your company information and financial information

*Note: During this step, you will be able to save your work and modify your form at a later date

STEP TWO: Submission – Finalize and submit your form. Please review all information before submitting. Once you finalize and submit an entry, you will not be able to edit it further. We will not consider your numbers unless you finalize and submit them.


Remember, the deadline to submit your numbers is April 11, 2020 at 11:59PM EST.
